On the 9th and 10th, we got up early to catch a flight to Delhi and then hooked up with our hired driver to travel the 4 hours to Agra. Along the way, we stop at what could be considered a rest stop and tourist stop. Here's one of the buses, and it screams "TOURIST", don't you think?
We waited around while our driver had tea. This enterprising grasshopper thought he could get a free ride on my pant leg. No way!!

As we drove through Agra heading toward our hotel, we passed by this building where work was being done. Anyone want to go out on this scaffolding???
Since Kristen had already been to Agra, she had warned us of the traps they set for tourists. One was meeting at a prearranged spot for a tour guide. We did end up hiring him, but wished we hadn't. He ended up being more annoying than helpful.
That first afternoon, we went to Agra Fort. It was hot out and we were all tired from our travels. Kristen and I had gotten up before 4am to catch our flight and Marty had just returned from the US. Whew, time for some sleep.
The next morning our plan was to see the Taj Mahal during sunrise. Well, the weather didn't exactly cooperate, so it was more hazy than anything else. Here are some pictures of the Taj and me with it. If you notice, I couldn't even wear my glasses part of the time because they kept fogging up - cool temperatures, warm bodies, and lots of humidity just don't make it easy.
Since we got up so early, we went back to the hotel to have breakfast and then check out. On the way out of Agra, we stopped at Akbar's Tomb and took some photos of the outside. Here's one.
We even got back earlier to Delhi than we thought, so we went to a mall for some food and then stopped briefly at India Gate. It is India's memorial to its fallen soldiers.
Then, finally we got to the airport. Here's the weary travelers looking forward to getting back to Ahmedabad.
